Staff reviews powered by Our TeamThe Mizuno SL2 Knee Pad is a great option for any player. I love the way that these fit. Some knee pads have too much padding or they have too much material above and below your knee, which makes it feel awkward to run or move around in my opinion. I think these are a great balance of protection and mobility. I love all the seams in the knee pad because seams means more conformity to my knee, which means more mobility. When a knee pad properly conforms around the shape of your knee, it allows your knee to bend and move in natural ways without feeling like the pad is getting in the way.
Another great feature that these knee pads have that others do not is a side pad in the inside and outside of the knee. This is great because when I dive, I do not always go straight down on the front of my knees. Sometimes I have to dive to the side, which means I have to rely on the side of the pad for protection. Having the side pad there means that no matter which way I fall, my knee is protected with padding. This is an especially great feature for all the back row players who are diving left and right all game long.
Another comparative knee pad to this is the Mizuno LR6 Knee Pad.This knee pad is still a high competition knee pad, just like the SL2, only the padding curves along the outside to fit the shape of the knee a bit closer. They also have a little less fabric from top to bottom compared to the SL2. Another great competitive knee pad is the Under Armour Volleyball Knee Pads. This is a great low profile pad that is great for a competitive player. I used the Under Armour Knee Pad during my high school years.
