Staff reviews powered by Our TeamBump up your skills and your strength with the Tachikara TB18 Setter Ball. This weighted volleyball is a great training device for all volleyball players, but is for setters especially. This ball is heavier than a regulation size ball for training purposes. Setters use this ball to strengthen their fingers and arms. That way, they are able to get the ball to their hitters without a ton of unnecessary effort. Tachikara’s setter ball is the most popular training ball we carry.
The ball weights about 6 ounces heavier than a standard ball, but it is the same official size. The cover of the ball is Tachikara’s signature composite leather. This 18-panel cover has a slightly padded feel, rather than a hard leather texture. It also provides a good amount of grip on the ball, unlike a slick leather. If you are a setter looking to improve your game, be sure to try out a setter ball. Coaches may also look to purchase this ball to improve their setters’ performance.
While you are building up your arm and finger strength, I would recommend trying out our finger supports as well. These elastic bands slide on your fingers for extra stability when you are setting. They come with 10 in a package so you give each of your finger joints a little extra support. This product helps preventing those unwanted finger jams.
